Standing female figure made in terracotta with beige, red and black engobe. The sculpture shows anthropomorphic features with wide open mouth, small breasts and scarification marks on the upper part.
The terracottas of Komaland, in Ghana, were pieces destined to accompany the deceased in his tomb, or to remind the living of the memory of the ancestor, being in the latter case deposited in the family altar. They are therefore mainly portraits, made by modeling in a sandy clay, of hard consistency, which requires a long firing.
