God Harpocrates. Ancient Egypt, Lower Epoch, 664-323 BC.

Measurements: 13,5 cm (height); 20 cm (height with base).

The one we now present is Harpocrates, representation of Horus child, and as such is depicted naked, wearing a crown and Ureus but also with the prince's side ponytail. He was worshiped from the New Empire, and symbolizes the weak sun of dawn or the winter sun, naked and unprotected. As this sun transforms into a powerful star, the weak child will become the adult Horus, armed and warrior, who will avenge the death of his father, Osiris. He was especially popular in the Late Epoch as a threatened child, but saved from all the stalks. As a conqueror of poisonous animals, he is considered important in the field of healing.
