The Vicús was a pre-Inca culture of ancient Peru, developed in the northern coastal area of the country, in the lower course of the Piura River. Its capital, located in the Vicús hill, served as a link with other Andean cities located further north. It was a culture based on agriculture and militarism, and its main cultural manifestation was pottery. Vicús pottery shows influences from the Chavín and Mochica cultures, and includes three main productions: Vicús negative, white on red and monochrome engobados.
