Pair of Medici bronze cups. They take the shape of small kraters, with their bellies decorated with gallons worked in relief and the handles in the shape of volutes. Their body is decorated with foliate motifs based on scrollwork, and vegetal fretwork outlines the mouth. The Medici cup gets its name from the influential family of Renaissance patrons, the Medici, and the Bacchic-themed or Greco-Roman-inspired vessels with which they decorated their gardens.
