The multicolor Monogram has been the longest collaboration between Louis Vuitton and Murakami.
In the early 2000s it was the "it" bag that women like Anna Kournikova, Paris Hilton and Jessica Simpson wore all the time.
It features the Monogram Multicolore print, a version in more than thirty colors on a white or black background of the iconic Monogram, the most imitated print in the world since 1876. In 2002 the Japanese artist Takashi Murakami (1962) was invited by designer Marc Jacobs to collaborate with Louis Vuitton. He created several print designs, among which stands out the reinterpretation of the iconic Monogram, transferring the traditional two-color design to a universe of color and fantasy. It is a timeless design, out of fashion, in line with the brand's product culture. According to Patrick-Louis Vuitton, this is a print that "will never go out of fashion, on the contrary, the older it gets, the more beautiful and more valuable it will be".
