BID HISTORY
DESCRIPTION
Pair of vases; China, first third of the twentieth century.
Cloisonne enameled bronze and wooden base.
Measurements: 40 x 19 cm (vases); 5,5 x 15 cm (pedestals).
Pair of Chinese vases decorated with the cloisonne enamel technique, which forms a complex decoration. The pieces are completely covered with enamel except for the perimeters of the foot and the mouth. Its typology is inspired by ancient Chinese bronzes, although the intricate relief decorations of traditional ritual bronzes are replaced by a profuse enameled ornamentation. Also called honeycombed or partitioned, the "cloisonné" enamel is a technique that consists of depositing the vitreous paste of the enamel in recessed compartments or formed by metal sheets that, in relief, compose the silhouette of the design.
