Pair of sumptuous Meiji Period patinated bronze vases, with beautiful original dark brown patina. On their handles are figurative sculptures of dragons emerging from foliage and other playfully fluttering foliate motifs.
The Meiji era is a period of Japanese history that lasted from October 23, 1868 to 1912. It was the first half of the Empire of Japan, when the Japanese people evolved from a feudal society into a modern, industrialized nation state and an emerging great power, influenced by the West.
