Qing period cabinet, rectangular body and with the front completely decorated with country scenes of bucolic theme, based on children playing or carrying lanterns, pagoda type houses and rocky landscapes with trees. The gilded scenes are set on the red lacquered doors and drawers. The doors close with an iron latch on a circular metal plate. The iron handles of the four drawers are ring handles.
Qing furniture is characterized by greater ornamentation and detailing compared to the more restrained designs of the Ming dynasty. Qing craftsmen incorporated decorative elements such as more elaborate carvings and brightly colored lacquer finishes. This is a late Qing period sideboard, where furniture combined functional elements with aesthetic details that reflected status and wealth.
