Signed on the base Kutani.
Measurements: 1.5 x 37 x 37 cm.
Presentation plate made of Kutani porcelain. The Kutani is a style of Japanese porcelain originated in the seventeenth century, but mainly developed in the eighteenth century, at first used only for rich pieces, intended for noble landowners and not for export, something that will change in the next century. In this style a grayish paste is used, which is porcelain but can be confused with stoneware, covered with a matte glaze, thick and milky. Regarding the style of decoration, there are different variants, although generally thick glazes are used and the ornamentation tends to be variegated, to cover almost the entire surface. The Meiji era (an era in Japanese history that lasted from October 23, 1868 to 1912. It was the first half of the Empire of Japan, when the Japanese people went from being a feudal society to a modern, industrialized nation state and an emerging great power, influenced by the West. scientific, technological, philosophical, political, legal and aesthetic ideas.
