Lacquered and gilded wood with applications of hard stones and mother-of-pearl.

Pair of rectangular trays made of lacquered wood, gilded and decorated with figurative motifs depicting court scenes and floral elements of great delicacy worked in mother-of-pearl marquetry, following the aesthetic models of Chinese influence.
The Meiji era (an era in Japanese history that lasted from October 23, 1868 to 1912. It was the first half of the Empire of Japan, when the Japanese people went from being a feudal society to a modern, industrialized nation state and an emerging great power, influenced by the West. scientific, technological, philosophical, political, legal and aesthetic ideas.
