BID HISTORY
DESCRIPTION
Persian carpet. Ghom, last quarter of the twentieth century.
Hand-knotted silk.
600.000 knots x m2.
With certificate of authenticity.
Measurements: 147 x 105 cm.
Persian hand-knotted carpet, which presents a camel brown field on which is traced a hexagonal figure in which nests a second hexagon, both in red bands between which develop floral and vegetal compositions of synthetic character. The whole presents an ornamentation based on fine stems and ornaments that grow in a capricious way but that are completed with a harmonic disposition. It has six borders, the central one wider and decorated with vegetal patterns. The predominant tones are red, white, ochre, beige, blue and white. These carpets are knotted in the sacred city of Ghom, in central Persia. The material used to make them is silk, which makes them thin and compact. These carpets are very well elaborated and, in some cases, are decorated in great detail.
