One of the motifs commonly represented in Ardebil carpets are the Persian hedens, symbol of paradise for the followers of Islam. In this carpet, of white field, a variety of animal and vegetable species are represented. Fish, fawns, birds... frolicking among flowering trees and a fish pond. The vivid chromatism of the central field and the foliated motifs of the border stand out.
The name Ardabil (or Ardebil) is the name given to a Persian carpet preserved in the Victoria and Albert Museum in London. By extension, this is the name given to those from this Iranian city, and they usually have a design similar to Tabriz.
