DESCRIPTION

It has some faults in the polychromy.
It has a mirror from a later period.
Measurements: 67 x 50 x 4 cm.
The one presented here has a mixtilinear frame, with openwork mouldings at the lower end, the sides and the top. The cornucopias were rich mirrors to which supports for candles were added, so that the light from the candles would be multiplied as it was reflected on their surface. They were particularly popular in the Baroque period, during the 17th and most of the 18th century. As they were pieces of representational furniture, they were made of richly carved and gilded wood, and their frames were decorated with a multitude of delicate relief motifs.
