Although in the city of Quimper, in the region of Brittany, a ceramic manufacture existed since the 18th century, it was not until the first decade of the 20th century that the factory was acquired by Jules Verlingue, who had worked for the famous manufacture of Sévres. Having observed the market trend since the end of the 19th century towards stoneware, he opted for this material and, from 1922 onwards, baptized the new production as Odetta, in clear reference to the Odet River that flows through the city of Quimper.

The piece is made with dense glazes reminiscent of "cloisonné", of clear geometric inspiration, which blends organically with the regional references of the Brittany region.
