DESCRIPTION
MARY GREGORY (1856-1908).
Set of nine pieces.
Blown and enamelled glass.
In good general condition.
Measurements: 20 x 11 x 11 cm (the largest).
Mary Gregory was known for the decoration of glass pieces at the Boston and Sandwich Glass Company in Cape Cod, Massachusetts. She worked for Boston and Sandwich from 1880 to 1884. Her pieces were characterised by silhouettes of children playing and scampering, as well as trees and foliage, executed in stylised white enamel on their surfaces. This type of decoration, both on pieces by the artist and by other followers who continued her style, was called "Mary Gregory glass".
